What more could you ask for? Former HSU pianist Robert Satterlee returns to the Humboldt County stage after more than twenty years. He will delight you with his artistry and insightful interpretation of a beloved classic, Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2. On the same program is the rapturous symphonic poem by P.I. Tchaikovsky, Romeo and Juliet. It is styled an Overture-Fantasy, and is based on Shakespeare’s eponymous play. Tchaikovsky was deeply inspired by Shakespeare and also wrote works based on The Tempest and Hamlet. We end with two more interpretations of the same story. One written by Nino Rota for Franco Zeffirelli’s film and one by Leonard Bernstein for the fabulous West Side Story.
